Therapy

What is Myofunctional Therapy?

Myofunctional therapy is basically physical therapy for the muscles of the mouth, tongue, and face.

It uses simple exercises and habit training to help people learn how to:

  • breathe better

  • keep their tongue in the right position

  • swallow correctly

  • improve lip seal

  • reduce mouth breathing

  • support healthy jaw and facial development

Alisha works with the individual to identify and treat underlying factors that may be impacting nasal breathing, correct swallowing, and orofacial function. Alisha will create an individualized therapy program to eliminate potentially destructive habits and retrain the muscles of the face and mouth to create new, healthy habits for optimal growth and development.
